SOCIAL CARE WORKER/AUTISM PRACTITIONER, RESIDENTIAL, PERMANENT

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and
experienced professional to join the north Dublin Community Support
Team based in Beaumont, Dublin 9. The Community Support Team is a
progressive values-based model of service that offers support to
people across the North Dublin Region. This is a unique service model
that aligns to the HSE Transforming Lives initiative while also
incorporating the principles of the New Directions Framework to
deliver supports that are person centred, promote?community
inclusion, active citizenship and?improving?quality of life.
At present the team supports **Apply on the website** individuals to
live in their own private rented accommodation. The team operates on a
support model that is designed in such a way that ensures the
individual is in receipt of the right amount of support based on their
needs with an emphasis on a reduction in support over time reflecting
the progress that is made.
The team is made up of eight staff from a mixture of backgrounds
including the fields of social care and psychology. There is a high
degree of lone working involved in this role and the majority of
supports are provided on an outreach basis. Gheel invest heavily in
providing staff with the tools that they need to provide quality
supports so in this regard, the successful candidate will receive a
robust suite of training upon commencement. Following this they will
be expected to deliver autism informed evidence-based assessments with
their key people in order to develop a support plan which enables the
person to build the skills necessary to develop independence, agency
and resilience across every area of their life. A high degree of
networking and external referral work will also be part of the role as
the team have built links with other agencies so that people supported
can access specialised supports in areas such as community mental
health, education, employment, housing, social and overall well-being.
The person appointed will report to the Location Manager and will work
as an integral part of the Community Support team. This is an exciting
opportunity for the right candidate to bring their skills and talents
to Gheel during a time of growth and development.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR SOCIAL CARE WORKER/ AUTISM PRACTITIONER
POST:
* Level 7 award in Social Care/Studies delivered by an Institute of
Technology, DIT or National University of Ireland.
* A relevant qualification received outside the State recognised by
NARIC as equivalent to the Irish Level 7 award or
* Relevant third level qualification at degree level i.e. social
work, psychology, and/or allied health or a Post-graduate
qualification in Autism Studies
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR THIS POST:
* A full, clean drivers licence and access to own car for travelling
to various locations.
* Excellent communication & engagement skills.
* At least one-year recent experience in the social care sector
* Ability to promote independence ? supporting others to learn how
? not doing it for them
* An understanding of the New Directions Model of Service Delivery.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA FOR THIS POST:
* Experience of supporting individuals with a diagnosis of ASD and
knowledge of Autism
* Experience of case management
* Experience of creating pathways to education, employment and
housing and supporting people along those pathways.
* Awareness of areas such as mental health, homelessness, addiction
and social disadvantage within the Irish context.
SALARY SCALE:
* Successful candidates will be paid in line with **Apply on the
